BDO Grows Loan Book Faster Than Industry as 9M 2026 Profit Reaches ₱63.6 Billion
BDO Unibank reported a ₱63.6-billion net income for the first nine months of 2026, up 0.8% from ₱63.1 billion a year earlier, as stronger lending and improved asset quality offset a challenging economic environment.
The Sy-led lender said gross customer loans expanded 16% year on year to ₱4.1 trillion, outpacing the banking industry’s 11% growth. Loan growth was broad-based across all segments, while deposits rose 11%.
Net interest income climbed 11%, helping lift pre-provision operating profit by 10%. Operating expenses remained within single-digit growth, reflecting continued cost discipline.
BDO’s asset quality also improved despite the faster expansion in credit. Its non-performing loan ratio declined to 1.60% from 1.77% a year ago, while NPL coverage was maintained at 132%.
The bank’s capital position remained solid, with a common equity Tier 1 ratio of 12.6%. Shareholders’ equity and book value per share both rose 6%, with book value per share reaching ₱123.6.
BDO said it remains positioned to pursue long-term growth opportunities, supported by its diversified business model, strong financial position, and market-leading franchise.
