67,300 Senior Citizens in Cebu City to Receive PHP2-K Cash Aid on February 4

Some 67,300 senior citizens in Cebu City are set to receive the first tranche of PHP2,000 of their PHP12,000 annual financial assistance from the city government on Saturday.

The city government has allocated some PHP134.6 million for this purpose.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña said residents of mountain barangays will receive the aid in their respective barangay halls, while those in urban areas will receive theirs in designated distribution centers.

Domingo Chaves, head of Cebu City’s Office for Senior Citizen’s Affairs (OSCA), said City Hall personnel will go to the houses of senior citizens who are bedridden to deliver the cash assistance to them.

The city government gives each qualified senior citizen a financial assistance of PHP12,000 a year, which is given in several tranches. (PNA)CVL/EB/EDS
