Napocor to Release Water from Angat Reservoir Tuesday

The National Power Corp. (Napocor) will open a gate of the Angat Dam Tuesday, to lessen the impact of expected rains to the dam’s stability.

In a statement Monday, Napocor said the Angat Dam will open its gate 2 starting 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday and release water by 70 cubic meters per second (cms).

Napocor stressed the water release will not cause flooding in nearby areas, including the Angat River.

Napocor cited the dam has a water level of 215.11 meters above sea level (masl) as of 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

The dam has a normal high water elevation of 212 masl.
