Western Visayas Rice Stock Sufficient even During Lean Months — NFA

Iloilo City (PNA) — The buffer stock in Western Visayas is enough to last for 102 days with the National Food Authority (NFA) estimating 5.9 million bags of rice right now on its warehouses, households and commercial traders.

Kashmir Gemarino, NFA Region 6 information officer, said the NFA alone has a stock of 1,507,662 bags of rice.

She said that residents in Region 6 have a daily consumption of 58,420 bags.

Gemarino said the NFA has an extra 751,720 bags kept and ready to be utilized in case of disaster or calamity.

Gemarino assured residents in the region of sufficient rice stock even during lean months due to NFA’s ongoing importation program. (PNA) LAM/AJPETINGLAY/VLO
