5.5-Magnitude Quake Hits 14km W of Shibetsu, Japan

Hong Kong (PNA/Xinhua) — An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted 14 kilometers west of Shibetsu, Japan at 18:42:11 GMT on Thursday (02:42:11 on Friday Beijing Time), the U. S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 128.09 kilometers, was initially determined to be at 43.6388 degrees north latitude and 144.9575 degrees east longitude. (PNA/Xinhua) FPV/EBP
