Passenger Boat Sinks off Masbate; 8 Passengers Safe

Legazpi City (PNA) — Eight persons were saved when the passenger boat they were riding in sank in the seas off Mandaon, Masbate, at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Saved were boat machinist Mona Asot Magalaman and his seven passengers who were not identified as of press time.

The victims came from Roxas City on board the boat marked “KIMDIN 1” and were bound for Mandaon.

Strong waves brought by the bad weather condition hit the boat but Magalaman was able to sound an SOS alarm immediately, prompting the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council of Mandaon to come to their rescue.

The rescued victims were brought to the Mandaon Rural Health Unit where they were treated.
