Senior’s Cash Gift Recommended to Council

A committee has recommended to the Talisay City Council the granting of cash gifts to the senior citizens.

Councilor Edward Alesna, chairman of the committee on budget and finance, submitted his report to the Council recommending the approval on granting cash gift to qualified senior citizens during their birthdays.

In his report, Alesna said after verifying with the local finance committee, there is enough funds for this program.

“The Committee on Budget Management highly recommends to the Sangguniang Panlungsod to approve the said resolution upon the availability of funds on 2014 Annual Budget,” read the committee report submitted to the council last week.

The proposal got the support of Councilor Val Ylanan, who told the council during its session that a P2,500 cash gift would be enough for a senior citizen who is celebrating his birthday. But the Council has deferred the approval of said proposal for further review and study.
