Joavan Spotted in Lapu-Lapu

Cebu’s public enemy number 1, Joavan Fernandez, was sighted in Lapu-Lapu City on Monday but managed to escape a police checkpoint set up in Barangay Babag.

Reports said Joavan was staying inside a resort in Lapu-Lapu City together with his friends, but police failed to arrest him following a raid Monday afternoon.

According to the police, Joavan was seen riding a Ford Everest SUV with plate no YKK-499 towards Lapu-Lapu City proper. They added that Joavan managed to escape arrest by ramming the gate railing of the resort.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) along with Philippine Air Force mounted a checkpoint at barangay Babag. During the checkpoint, Joavan’s car was blocked by the police which then triggered a chase.

The police fired and hit the tire of Joavan’s car but Joavan left the SUV and reportedly flee into the slums with his 2 companions.

Through rental papers left inside the car, it revealed that the SUV was owned by Anna Marinas and appears to be rented since last April 30.
