BFAR-6 Confirms Capiz Now Red Tide Free

Iloilo City(PNA) -– The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office 6 (BFAR-6) has confirmed that the Sapian Bay and Ivisan in Capiz are now negative of red tide toxin.

The BFAR-6 under Director Remia Aparri has received Shellfish Advisory Number 15, series of 2015 signed last October 9, they immediately furnished the local government units (LGUs) in Capiz concerning the latest laboratory findings.

The LGUs implemented the imposition of the ban against the harvesting, collecting, marketing and selling of shellfish from the said coastal areas right after the laboratory results showed the presence of red tide in August.

With the new advisory showing negative presence of red tide, the LGUs lifted the ban on shellfish from the mentioned areas. Shellfish from these areas are now safe for human consumption. (PNA) FFC/AJP/CBF
