Samsung Puts AI Where It Matters: In the Phones Most People Can Afford

Samsung’s latest Galaxy A18 and Galaxy A08 show that artificial intelligence doesn’t have to be a premium feature reserved for flagship phones. The affordable A Series brings practical AI tools, dependable hardware, and long-term software support to the devices people rely on every day.

The Galaxy A18 is positioned as the more versatile all-rounder, while the Galaxy A08 leans into battery life and dependable everyday performance. Together, they signal a shift in the budget-phone conversation: the question is no longer only “How much does it cost?” but also “How long will it stay useful?”

“With the launch of Galaxy A18 and Galaxy A08, we are making meaningful mobile experiences more accessible by focusing on what users value most – smooth performance, durability, and essential mobile AI experiences,” said Kristine Go, Head of Mobile Experience for Samsung Electronics Philippines

AI for everyday tasks
Both devices include enhanced Circle to Search, letting users circle or tap something on the screen to search for it without typing a query or switching apps. A new Find the Look feature can help identify an entire outfit or recognize music playing nearby.

The phones also support multiple AI agents, including Gemini and Perplexity. Through voice commands or a long press, users can ask these assistants to activate supported Galaxy, Google, and selected third-party apps, turning the phone into more of an active helper across everyday tasks.

That matters because these are not abstract demos. Searching a product in a video, identifying a song, finding outfit inspiration, or opening an app hands-free are the kinds of small conveniences that can make a midrange phone feel noticeably more modern.

Galaxy A18: the everyday all-rounder
The Galaxy A18 is built for users who want one phone to handle streaming, social media, gaming, photography, and multitasking. Its 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display and Helio G99+ processor are designed to deliver sharp visuals and smooth scrolling.

Samsung has also upgraded the phone to LPDDR5 memory, which supports faster data transfer and more responsive multitasking. RAM Plus can use available storage as virtual memory, helping apps stay active in the background; users can enable it for gaming or turn it off to preserve storage for photos and videos.

For photography, the A18 offers a 50MP wide camera, 5MP ultra-wide camera, and 2MP macro camera. That combination gives users more flexibility to shoot landscapes, group photos, and close-up details without needing to carry separate gear.

Galaxy A08: built to last the day
The Galaxy A08 takes a more focused approach, which is reliability. Its 6,000mAh battery is the centerpiece, designed to keep users connected through streaming, browsing, messaging, and work without constantly worrying about a charger.

It shares the Helio G99+ processor and LPDDR5 memory with the A18, along with RAM Plus for additional flexibility. The camera setup is simpler but practical: a 50MP autofocus main camera, 2MP depth sensor, and 8MP front camera for everyday photos and video calls.

In other words, the A08 is not trying to be everything at once. It is designed for people who want a phone that lasts, performs predictably, and stays useful for years.

Longevity as a feature
Perhaps the most important upgrade is not on the spec sheet’s front page. Both phones are promised up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That kind of support can make an affordable phone a much smarter long-term investment.

Both models also carry IP64-rated protection against dust and water splashes. The Galaxy A18 adds a glass-fibre-reinforced polymer back cover intended to be thinner and stronger, while Samsung Knox and Knox Vault provide hardware-based protection for sensitive information.

For budget-conscious buyers, that combination addresses a familiar frustration: buying an inexpensive phone only to see it feel outdated or become less secure within a couple of years.

Price and availability
The Galaxy A08 is available now in the Philippines, starting at ₱11,190 for the 4GB+64GB variant and ₱13,090 for the 4GB+128GB model. Until November 30, cash purchases at authorized Samsung stores can bring the price down to as low as ₱9,990 and ₱11,990, respectively.

The Galaxy A18 will arrive in the Philippines by December 2026, with color options including Black, Silver, and Light Blue. The Galaxy A08 comes in Dark Blue, Silver, and Green.
